New York psych-pop band Crumb return with AMAMA, their most carefree and open-hearted album to date. A soundscape full of playful and patchwork experimentation - glitchy pitch-shifted vocals, cell phone recordings, nautical blips, sax mouthpiece solos, blasted drum samples, and piano strings dampened with Silly Putty - AMAMA continues to deepen the band's hypnotic sound in a cohesive line back through 2021's Ice Melt, 2019's Jinx, and breakout EPs Locket and Crumb. Without a doubt, AMAMA is Crumb - singer and multi-instrumentalist Lila Ramani, keyboardist and saxophonist Bri Aronow, bassist Jesse Brotter, and drummer Jonathan Gilad - at their most animated. AMAMA exists at the crossroads of psychedelia, pop, jazz, and rock, and cements Crumb as a band uniquely their own. From Indian Lakes is excited to announce the new album Head Void, out May 15th. Head Void is the first new music from FIL in over half a decade, and if lead single “The Flow” is anything to go by, it was well worth the wait. The song is intoxicating in its immediacy, as if drawing one into an intense conversation midstream. A galloping drum groove pulls the listener along until a wave of synths and guitars crashes overhead and sweeps them fully away in an inescapable grasp. “It is about being stuck in a flow that’s unhealthy,” shares FIL mastermind Joe Vann, “one you need the help of your loved ones to pull you out of.”

This package collects the original album plus three LP sides of bonus material. Real Life’ is the result of Melbourne singer songwriter Jess Locke trying to make sense of a world that feels more and more unreal. Some parts of the album simply expressions of despair at a world that feels more and more dystopian. Writing this record, Locke found herself thinking a lot about what it means to live when you know that one day you will die, not just individually, but as a species, as a planet. But as much as our impermanence is very much a fact, it is also a fantasy, some theoretical, future event.

Hana Vu's "contemplative indie-pop captures the disillusionment of young adulthood," writes NME. The acclaimed LA-born songwriter's been making music since high school, with a full-length debut and several EPs behind her of glowy, brooding anthems of abstraction and emotion. With previous work, Vu welcomed feedback as she went, but while crafting Romanticism, she shielded herself from outside opinion to preserve a singular vision. The result is a unified collection of songs aching with depth and intimacy. Lush and loud, the songs can feel both reminiscent of guitar-heavy late-aughts indie rock, and expansively futuristic in it's layered synth bass. They pulse with meaning and jolt with playfulness, anchored by her powerful, sonorous voice and underscored by the record's Romantic era-inspired artwork. "I'm just trying to convey my perspective as boldly as possible. To succinctly crystallize how it feels to be young, but also to be deeply sad." Under Vu's magnetic gaze, soaking up sadness has never felt so alive.
